Inside the Experience
Welcome to The Odeon, a true gem nestled in the heart of New York City. This iconic dining establishment boasts a rich history as one of the city’s oldest food venues, steeped in an ambiance that evokes a nostalgic old-town charm. As you step inside, you're immediately transported into a warm atmosphere filled with vibrant energy, perfect for any occasion—from a quick lunch to a romantic dinner.
Many patrons, like Alex Achim, praise The Odeon for its authentic vibe and quick service, making it an excellent choice for those on the go. While some reviews suggest room for improvement—such as the portion size of salads or the bread quality on burgers—the standout dishes here shine through. For instance, Courtney Major raves about the moule frites, declaring them the best she’s had since visiting France, while fellow diner eric yao highlights the unique twist of the buffalo dumplings, a delightful fusion of flavors.
The Odeon’s menu caters to a variety of palates, and while some dishes may not fully satisfy, like the steak frites which left a little to be desired, there's undoubtedly something for everyone. Neha’s experience particularly emphasizes the restaurant's claim to fame: the cosmopolitan, famously invented here. The drink lives up to its legendary status, refreshing and sophisticated, just as expected.
The fries, as noted by Vyacheslav “Slava” D., stand out with their nostalgic, old-school style, cooked from real potatoes that are simply divine. It’s these touches that make each visit worthwhile. Despite the occasional wait—an indicator of its popularity—The Odeon consistently offers friendly, attentive service that enhances the dining experience.
Whether you're catching up with friends, enjoying a date night, or simply indulging in the vibrant NYC dining scene, The Odeon promises a bit of magic on every plate and in every drink. The combination of exquisite dishes, historical significance, and a charming atmosphere make it a must-try culinary destination. Don’t miss the opportunity to savor a meal at this beloved eatery!
“ This was a nice authentic place to grab a quick lunch in the city. Has an very old town feel to it being one of the oldest food establishments in the area ”
“ I always see lots of people going in and out of The Odeon, and since it’s near my new job, we decided to try it out some time ago. The atmosphere could have been better, nothing special, but fine overall. The service was nice; everyone was friendly, polite, and quick. As for the food: the salad was a very small portion and almost empty. The burger had dry bread, but the meat itself was exceptional. The fries were really good, which is actually pretty rare in restaurants. Drinks were average. Overall, I expected more from such a popular place, but it was just fine. ”
“ The vibes of this spot were super fun and I loved the menu. Truly, the best moule frites I’ve had since France. The steak from the steak frites was underwhelming though, and the bearnaise sauce wasn’t balanced. Get the cosmo though! ”
“ It was one of the best date dinners ever in NYC! Charming atmosphere, elegant audience, attentive staff, delicious dishes, and surprisingly not as loud as usually in NYC. All these are components of your great time here, and afterwards, you want to visit this restaurant again!! Definitely will come back soon with my friends. PS: Their fries are insane how delicious, old-school style, real potatoes, not a fake!!! ”
“ Iconic place with indescribable energy. The cucumber martini was refreshing for early summer days and buffalo dumplings caught us in surprise with its own interpretation of east and west, simply love it. The only complaint I had - too crowded! ”
